Arts & Crafts

This page is devoted to my somewhat eclectic projects. I never know what sort of medium I’m going to end up working with or where my inspiration will take me.

Nevermore Hat

I saw a hat with broad red and black stripes at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire that really caught my fancy. However, the price (at $80.00) did not appeal to me quite so much. I created this version for about $20.00, adding a cross (that reminds me of vampires) and a black bird (to represent my Poe fettish).

Fairy House 2011

My daughter and I built this fairy house for the 2011 Wolfeboro Fairy House Festival. We took second place! The large sea shell was filled with blue water and miniature sea shells to serve as a pool. There is a small sea shell wreath on the door, as well as a tiki style face formed into one wall. The potted plants are real!

Boba Fet Toilet Seat

My brother-in-law told me he wanted either a million dollars or a gold toilet seat for Christmas 2010. He got the gold toilet seat. I made the image of Boba Fet’s helmet shadow-like by painting a thin coat of gold over black sharpie. Much cheaper than a million dollars, but still pretty cool!

Kameron’s Mobile

This was my first attempt at making a stationary baby mobile. The foundation is actually made out of PVC plumbing pipe. The bottom mat and pipe wrap-arounds are sewn in soft, fuzzy fleece (plus the mat is filled and quilted for extra pillowy softness). The hanging pieces include a Webkinz dragon, a Prince Charming frog, a felt castle tower (which I made), and a stuffed horse (which I created a saddle blanket and blanket for). I hope he likes it!

Dream Catcher

I made this dream catcher for a baby shower. The stones are protective in nature. I didn’t have any willow on hand, so I had to make due with maple.
